Women’s Plaza Gathers for Happy Hour

The paradoxically warm February evening was a wonderful surprise for everyone who attended the latest Women’s Plaza Happy Hour. Spending time on a sunny patio overlooking Portland’s majestic convention center and cityscape was a perfect atmosphere to welcome our daycare partner Kisha Edwards-Gandsy of Brooklyn Explorer’s Academy.

The evening was hosted by Women’s Plaza CEO Glaucia Martin-Porath and Sabrina Balderama of Oregon Tradeswomen. In attendance to meet Kisha and hear about her philosophy on childcare were members of the Women’s Plaza board, future WP practitioners and other community members. Also present were members of the design team from Interior Architects: Portland who brought with them a conceptual plan for Women’s Plaza’s potential location at NW 12th and Northrup.

By observing the group as they enjoyed themselves, one could easily imagine the daily buzz of a thriving Women’s Plaza – where authentic connections, a network of support, creativity and innovation will be the norm.

Guests walked away with more than a simple understanding of the plans for the space (a chic and modern design to enhance the integrated work and childcare center) or the time frame for the build-out (slated to open Fall 2016) – each individual was treated as a critical partner in the success of Women’s Plaza.

Maybe it was the rooftop views or the unseasonably warm evening, but there was feeling of excitement in the air – a sense that anything is possible if you unite and inspire a group of women!
